Spending Your HSA Dollars Before the End of the Year
A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a savings account often offered by employers. Employees who contribute to HSA accounts can use the funds they accumulate to cover medical expenses not covered by their primary insurance policies. HSA contributions are tax-deductible, interest earnings are tax-deferred, and withdrawals are tax-free. Also, patients can use HSA dollars to cover many of the procedures and services offered by Fite Eye Center. For example, HSA holders may use their funds to pay for Lasik surgery, eye exams, glasses, or contact lenses.
Why Now Is the Perfect Time for HSA Holders to Pursue Lasik Eye Surgery
Glasses and contact lens wearers who are interested in Lasik surgery should pursue this option now – especially if they have HSA dollars. After all, the end of the year is quickly approaching, and it is a good idea to use 2018 HSA funds before the start of 2019.
Plus, the winter season is an ideal time of the year to schedule an iLasik procedure. While the surgery typically requires minimal recovery time, there are certain activities that iLasik patients should not pursue immediately following the procedure. For example, swimming, boating, and spending excessive time in the sun are not recommended. Therefore, December is a good month for Lasik.
