Dr. Steven Fite is committed to providing his patients with the very best in eye care.

If you need eye surgery, Dr. Fite performs surgery at facilities that provide the most advanced, state of the art technologies, in a caring, compassionate environment.
Dr. Fite is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he studied Biochemistry. He completed his residency at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, and a Corneal/Refractive Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City.
In addition to Cataract and LASIK surgery, Dr. Fite is also uniquely qualified to perform surgery on the cornea, the front surface of the eye where LASIK and other vision correction surgeries are performed.
Dr. Fite is frequently the doctor that patients with surgical complications come to for help.
His cornea training also enables him to offer superior care for other corneal and external disease issues, such as contact lens-related problems, dry eye disease, blepharitis, keratoconus, dystrophies, and corneal ulcers.
Dr. Fite provides patients with a full range of eye care, from general eye exams and contact lens fittings, to evaluation and treatment of cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
No matter what your eye care needs are, Dr. Fite and his staff are committed to making sure that patients get the attention and care they deserve.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Fite enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, and their Golden Retriever “Reggie”.

In Practice Since:
Dr. B. Evelyn Tomaras holds her Bachelors in Science from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Attending Ferris State University, she received a Doctor of Optometry degree.
While attending Optometry school, she spent one year interning at Kresge Eye Institute, specializing in contact lens fittings, specializing in keratoconus fittings and low vision examinations. Her second internship experience at John Dingell VA Hospital in Detroit strengthened her expertise in ocular diseases. Lastly, Dr. Tomaras interned at Balian Eye Center, learning the ropes of general eye care.
Dr. Tomaras joined Fite Eye Center in March of 2016.
Marvin Shulman, MD is a practicing Ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist) in Clinton Township, MI. Dr. Shulman graduated from University of Michigan Medical School in 1973 and has been in practice for 44 years. He completed a residency at University of Michigan Health System. Dr. Shulman is board certified in Ophthalmology. Dr. Shulman provides patients with general eye exams including evaluation and treatment of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Shulman joined Fite Eye Center in June of 2016.
James R. Valice, M.D. is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, his residency was completed at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit and he completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at Southern Illinois University.
Dr. Valice has been board-certified by the American Board Of Ophthalmology since 1998. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Valice specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retina and posterior segment diseases of the eye.
He provides surgical and laser care for retinal diseases as well as the latest laser and medical treatment for macular degeneration.
Dr. Valice joined Fite Eye Center in June of 2016.
Dr. Benjamin Monson is an ophthalmologist that brings compassion and listening skills to the clinical practice of medicine.
A long time Metro Detroit area resident, Dr. Monson received his bachelor degree in general studies at the University of Michigan “with distinction”. He then achieved his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency training through St. John Providence health system in 2014.
Dr. Monson specializes in cataract surgery, including refractive cataract surgery using Restor and Toric lenses, ORA, and femtosecond laser-assisted surgery. He has special interests in eyelid surgery and facial rejuvenation. Being a comprehensive ophthalmologist, Dr. Monson also treats Diabetic Eye Disease, Glaucoma, Dry Eye Syndrome, and Ocular Surface Disease.
Born into a family of doctors, including his father, grandfather, and uncle, Dr. Monson understands that patient care and education is of utmost importance.
Dr. Monson will see patients at our Clinton Township and Romeo locations.
